Foot and lower limb
Plantar Fasciitis
Heel pain that is worst on the first steps of the day, listed both on InTouch's musculoskeletal list and in the podiatry scope.
What people notice
Signs that bring people in.
- Sharp heel pain on the first steps out of bed
- Pain easing with movement then returning after rest
- Tenderness at the inside front of the heel
- Discomfort worsening through a day on your feet
- Increased pain on hard floors or in flat shoes
How we approach it.
Plantar fasciitis is a loading problem more than an inflammation problem, and it responds to managing load and building tolerance rather than to rest alone.
Having a licensed podiatrist working alongside physiotherapy means both the foot itself and the way you are loading it get addressed, including orthotic prescription where it is genuinely indicated.
What tends to be behind it.
Rarely one thing. These are the contributors the exam looks for, and the reason the assessment covers more than the spot that hurts.
01
Rapid increase in loading
A jump in running volume, or a change to a job spent standing, loads the tissue faster than it adapts.
02
Foot posture
Flat or high arched foot types change how load distributes along the plantar fascia with every step.
03
Calf tightness
Restricted ankle movement increases the demand on the plantar fascia during push off.
04
Footwear
Unsupportive or worn out shoes remove load that the tissue would otherwise not have to carry.
InTouch is an integrated rehabilitation centre. Care here is directed at restoring movement and function, and every plan begins with an individual assessment rather than an assumption about your diagnosis.

At the practice
Care combines settling the symptomatic tissue with calf and foot loading work, plus footwear or orthotic advice where the assessment supports it.
What happens next
What care looks like here.
The same first visit regardless of what brought you in, and nothing is decided until the findings are in front of you.
Step 1
Assessment
A full history and physical assessment, because the discipline you booked is not automatically the one you need.
Step 2
Findings and plan
What we found, explained in plain terms, and an integrated plan that can draw on any of the five disciplines here.
Step 3
Treatment
Hands-on care from the practitioners the plan calls for, with the teams talking to each other rather than working in parallel.
Step 4
Rehabilitation
Exercise rehabilitation to rebuild strength and control, plus the prevention work that keeps you from coming back for the same thing.
What happens after the first visit
InTouch does not publish fixed course lengths, and care is reviewed as you progress rather than run to a set number of sessions. What comes next is decided from how you respond, and it can draw on any of the five disciplines in the building.
